Ferris Bueller is still cool
Excited for the Super Bowl only to learn what the possibilities of a new Ferris Bueller film are. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see Matthew Broderick play an all grown up FB?! OMG, what if FB had an FB… okay, until then…
Happiness
Dinner with my best friend. Los Angeles. Seeing Kit and really laughing about how good we’re getting at life. I’m happy to be home. Even more so that we’re driving to Palm Springs this morning. Seeing Matthew and Jason and Kat and Jake and Amir all this week and building a tepee for a party. Really truly happiness.
Winter Wonderland Weekend

We left New York at 7:00am on Christmas Eve morning. When we arrived in Rhode Island, the clouds broke and the sun was bright.

It felt right to leave NYC. It had been a really long week. Chris and I went to the studio to work and later to my family’s house. Good wine and food. It was lovely being home.

One of my Christmas morning traditions is to see Ocean Drive with a big latte. This was how it looked with an iPhone. Not too far from the real thing. Surreal. This is a little cove enjoying the sun after a few snowflakes.

Chris brought me to the Monkey Seat to make a wish. In all m 30 years of knowing and loving Newport, I had never heard I this one! But I was happy to try it out.
The best party punch cocktail recipe in the world.
For Chris’ party last weekend I was put in charge of beverages (yay!). What does one make for about a hundred heavy drinkers without breaking the bank? I googled “best holiday punch ever for big parties”. And this marvelous recipe for Algonquin Bar Punch came up on BonAppetit.com. I decided to mix up this punch a little bit and got the following:
I call it The Belafonte
1 box superfine sugar
(4) little cartons of raspberries
a bag of lemons sliced
Bottle of Santa Cruz Organic Fresh Lemon Juice
Bottle of Sailor Jerry’s Spiced Rum
Beefeater Gin
8 bottles Cristalino Cava (sparkling wine)
3 bags ice
For each batch (I think this amount of ingredients made 4 big punch bowls):
Put 1 cup sugar in a large bowl. Add 1 carton of raspberries, muddle. Put in a few big handfuls of ice in the bowl and pour in 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup gin, 1 cup rum. Top off with a bottle of champagne (minus a couple glasses). Garnish with sliced lemons and serve!
Aside from the art, the punch was the talk of the town. I hope you enjoy it, put a spin on it and party!
Daydream

If you’re wondering where my mind is at these days it’s probably somewhere around here. Winter has never looked so beautiful or been more welcome to my eyes. And with all seasons comes change. The death of things to renew, hibernate and recuperate. I’ll be happier when this all ends and spring rings in, but until then you can find me daydreaming.
